Syncline
The syncline is the best (and probably only) place to ride in the winter
when other trails are wet and muddy. It's about 15 minutes
from Hood River and offers a multitude of rides.
To get there, drive across the Columbia, take a right, and drive through Bingen. You'll go about 5 minutes past Bingen to Courtney Road. Take a left and park.
Coyote Cliffs
This is an awesome down hill that can be done as a tough loop or with a car shuttle. To get to the top of this ride just continue up Courtney Road and just after the road switches from pavement to dirt look for a trail on the right.
The trail starts fairly flat with a few small uphills, but quickly turns into a nonstop downhill through technical windy singletrack. The trail ends within sight of the parking area on Courtney Road.
Moab and Maui
Most people ride East from the parking area along an old road to the
bottom of the Syncline. Here you ride a series of switchbacks
uphill and choose from descents down either Moab or Maui.
Moab is a steep, techinical trail that parallels the huge cliffs. Maui is a fun singletrack that winds down next to a beautiful creek. If you're in decent shape, either ride takes about half an hour.
