East Fork Trail
Up to 10 mile trail run
This is a beautiful trail run through an old growth forest along the East Fork of the Hood River. This is a hilly run that has an optional side run up to Tamanawas Falls.
This
trail is known as a 4.5 mile trail between Robin Hood and Sherwood
Forest Campgrounds. We found that a bridge was missing about
about 1.5 miles up the river from Sherwood Forest Campground
so it wasn't possible to run between the camps.
So we ran up there, then turned around and ran to Tamanawas Falls. The trail up to Tamanawas Falls is a steep and challenging one, but well worth it. We ran back from the falls and continued North on the East Fork Hood River Trail and found much more great running.
Basically, the trail system has changed somewhat since the Hood River floods in 2006 and some bridges are missing. For a great run, head up to the Sherwood Forest Campground and start exploring!
