The Sunnyside Loop

About 13 mile road run

  • On the Washington side
  • Mostly flat

Running by Mount AdamsThis is a great long run for those of you training for a marathon. It's about a 45 minute drive from Hood River and well worth it. You'll enjoy views of Mount Adams while running along old farms and the upper part of the White Salmon River.

To get there, head over to the Washington side and get yourself on Highway 141 heading to Trout Lake. You'll park on the left side of the road in a dirt area just before Sunnyside Road. This is about four miles before Trout Lake.

You can run it both ways, but I prefer to run up Highway 141 to Trout Lake to start off the run. When you get to Trout Lake, take a right on Mt Adams Road. You'll go a mile or so on this before taking a right on Sunnyside Road. Just follow Sunnyside Road back to your car. This will involve a right turn about four miles past Trout Lake and a left turn with about two miles to go. Just pay attention to the street signs and you'll be fine.
